About Us

The ARC Radio Station is a student run station located within the hallway connecting Dilworth Hall and the Dining Hall. The station uses an application called Mixlr to broadcast shows to the public. The benefit of not using AM/FM broadcasting in the station is that it allows the students to broadcast freely, without FCC regulation. The shows consist of music, talk shows, book readings, etc.

The station has struggled over time to stay afloat with it’s impending demise appearing to have come from the hands of the COVID-19 pandemic after years of mismanagement and dwindling engagement. Upon the return to “normal” university living “post covid”. In the Fall of 2021, Media & Communications Department Chair, Dr. Lisa Holderman had reached out to students to see who would be interested in reviving the station. Three students, Jess Yakubovsky, Morgan Naylor, and Alejandro Lopez had begun taking on this role of bringing the station back, with Jess making it her senior capstone project.

The condition of the station upon returning after having had no one interact with it for almost two years was abysmal. It was a mess inside and the only option was to gut the entire space. The result of this was a 40 thousand dollar renovation of the space, granted through our school’s SGO (Student Government Organization) thanks to Alejandro’s persistence. Come Summer 2023, the renovations had been completed. The station had now been equipped with state of the art microphones, a sound board, professional grade headphones, and studio monitors. The back room was even transformed into a small studio like space, outfitted for “tiny desk concert” style activities.

Thanks to the hard-work by these students, and the additional support from the Department of Media and Communications, the station was able to begin airing shows throughout the Spring 2024 semester. Senior and Global Media Studies major Jacob Smith had taken on the task of organizing & managing the brand new station as his creative capstone project alongside senior and Media & Communication major Brianna Colantoni who was in charge of building the website and handling the marketing/pr. The station now currently runs daily with 13 individual shows being hosted by students throughout the week.
